Super Easy Beautiful Crochet Pattern Tutorial For Beginner

Are you a beginner looking for a beautiful, easy stitch for your very first crochet blanket? Look no further! This blanket pattern uses a simple textured stitch that looks intricate but is surprisingly easy to learn. Once you get past the first row, it becomes a relaxing one-row repeat you can work on while watching your favorite show.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Any medium/worsted weight yarn (or yarn of your choice)
  • Crochet Hook: 4.00 mm (US G/6)
  • Tools: Scissors, tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch: chain
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • st(s): stitch(es)

Pattern Notes

  • Multiple: To make your foundation chain the right size, chain an even number of stitches until you reach your desired blanket width.
  • The texture comes from placing a stitch cluster—(1 hdc, ch 1, 1 sl st)—into the same space, skipping a stitch, and repeating.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation Chain

Start with a slip knot on your hook. Chain an even number of stitches to reach your desired width (e.g., 100 to 140 chains for a cozy throw).

Row 2:

Turn your work.

Chain 2 (counts as 1 hdc). Skip the very first stitch.

  • In the next stitch, work: (1 hdc, ch 1, 1 sl st) all into the same stitch.
  • Skip 1 stitch.Repeat from * across until you have 2 stitches remaining.Skip 1 stitch, then work 1 hdc into the last stitch (top of turning chain).

Row 3 & Beyond:

Turn your work and repeat Row 2 until your blanket reaches your desired length!

To finish, fasten off your yarn and weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle.
